Abstract

It is impossible to accurately predict an individual patient¡¯s growth. Growth data from the various growth studies are considered in the diagnosis process, but in the case of patients with out-of-average growth, unexpected occlusal and facial changes are encountered during treatment. In the case of Class III malocclusion, it is often seen that growth continues until late age. If a significant amount of growth occurs unexpectedly at the time when the jaw growth was thought to be almost finished, orthodontic treatment becomes very difficult. This case report shows the treatment process of a Class III patient who started treatment at the age of 15 years and 11 months but showed a large amount of jaw growth unexpectedly, and summarizes aspects to pay attention in the treatment of Class III malocclusion.
